Good Morning Green Smoothie

Good Morning Green Smoothie

There’s no bigger advocate for breakfast than me. In fact, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and sometimes I even look forward to tomorrow’s breakfast the night before. That being said, when my stomach starts to act up, and I need a bit of a reset, skipping the big breakfast spread can really have an impact on how I feel the rest of the day. On the days that I choose to have a lighter start, I usually begin with a cup of tea to wake up my stomach, followed by a green smoothie to pack in the nutrients.

The following is my recipe for a breakfast smoothie that is super easy and simple. At school, I can even have this made in my dining hall at the smoothie bar!

For measurements, I usually just estimate the quantities. I throw a handful of each ingredient into my cup to measure, fill the cup with milk and then pour it all into the blender. This mixture usually creates the perfect consistency, but if you want your smoothie thicker or thinner, just adjust the amount of milk you use. When I’m at school, the dining hall doesn’t serve coconut milk, so I just use almond, but because of environmental concerns, I try to use coconut milk when I’m home. If regular milk doesn’t bother your stomach, you could use that too, but I try to avoid using fruit juices that will spike my sugar intake so early in the day.

What I decide to have for breakfast is a personal decision, and depends entirely on how I am feeling that day. There are some days when skipping a real meal is the wrong choice and I need that dose of energy to get me moving. In no way am I making claims for what will help other people, but if you’re interested in resetting your body, a smoothie for breakfast always makes me feel a lot better. Hope you guys enjoy!
